Phumuzani Ndlovu on Friday volunteered to show his erect manhood which now resembles a cucumber in shape and size.
Ndlovu had been in police custody while attending court to answer to rape charges, but his condition deteriorated, forcing the court to grant him bail.
During an interview at his homestead, where he stays alone, Ndlovu was in a sorry state and could hardly do anything because of agony.
He experienced the painful erection soon after sleeping with the minor, who is suspected to have been «fenced off».
The «fencing off» practice is commonly known as ulunyoka/runyoka in Zimbabwe.
Narrating his ordeal, Ndlovu said he met the girl during the night at his neighbour’s homestead where she had gone to seek overnight accommodation while on her way to a nearby boarding school.
The girl had disembarked from a bus while coming from home in Bulawayo and decided to seek temporary accommodation at one Ms Dube’s homestead, since it was late.
It is said while Ms Dube was preparing a place for her to put up for the night, Ndlovu arrived, befriended the girl and took her to his home.
«I asked her to go and sleep at my house and she agreed,» Ndlovu said, adding that he later had sexual intercourse with the minor.
«Some minutes after the first encounter, I felt some pain as if something had cut my organ and when I lit a fire to check what had happened, surprisingly, there was nothing,» he said.
«I told the girl that I was no longer feeling well and I asked her whether she had an idea of what could have been the problem, but she professed ignorance.
«I started pouring a lot of cold water on my manhood hoping there could be a change, but it remained erect and swollen.»В
He said he never slept that night due to the incessant pain.
«The following morning I tried to accompany the girl to the school, but I could not walk as far as the gate after the condition worsened,» he said.
The alleged rapist said he later consulted other people and several churches for divine intervention, but this was all in vain as his organ remained erect.
When the condition remained unchanged for a week, Ndlovu confessed about the sexual encounter with the minor leading to his arrest.
«At Nyamandhlovu Police Station I was given some painkillers, but every time I took them, I suffered severe stomach pains,» he said.
Ndlovu said he had since stopped taking the pills and had sought a*sistance from a man who hails from Binga.Because of his worsening condition, Ndlovu now walks with the aid of a walking stick and spends most of the time in bed.
The president of the Zimbabwe National Traditional Healers’ Association (Zinatha), Professor Gordon Chavunduka, said the girl could have been treated with juju.
«It may be possible that this man slept with a girl who could have been treated to punish anyone who would have abused her,» he said.
He said some traditional medicines could be used to do the «fencing».В В В В В
A medical practitioner, Dr Sydney Mukonoweshoro, said Ndlovu could be suffering a condition called priapism.
«The man could be suffering from a condition called priapism where the blood clots, resulting in the organ swelling,» he said.
He said the condition could be treated with conventional medicine.
The «fencing» or ulunyoka practice is still common in some communities that want to protect their women.-Sunday News
